I stayed at the Super 8, which is just maybe 1/4 mile down the road. I thought about going to Denny's for dinner, but after driving 650 miles that day I just wanted to eat as soon as possible. So I went to The Grille. I'm glad I did. I had the chicken bacon ranch wrap. It was notably larger than wraps at many restaurants, and the chicken was real chicken...not preprocessed chicken-like material. My wife had the French dip and said it was very good. The seasoning on the fries was also very good. And the prices were very reasonable for the size of the portions. The staff was friendly and the combination of wood and brick interior was a nice touch. I don't travel through Mt. Vernon very often, but I would be happy to stop there again the next time I'm passing through.

Everyone was dead on about this establishment. You can not judge by the outside. The food was good. The 0staff was attentive, nice and friendly. For only 2 waitresses, bus boy and a cook. They were great.

On a road trip and stopped for dinner on our way through town. As others have mentioned, the place is unassuming. We were warmly greeted. Staff was delightful. We ordered to-go since we had the dog. There isn't outside or patio seating. When we ordered, we requested an unseasoned patty for the dog. They were accomodating. The (senior) pup was thrilled to get such a treat! My burger was yummy. He had a grilled ranch chicken wrap and devoured it. Ranch on the side was the way to go. Finally, the carrot cake. It was divine. Perfectly seasoned (cinnamon and nutmeg balance - iykyk) and frosting wasn't gritty or overly sweet. If you're riding through, absolutely worth the stop.

Our family stopped for a late lunch while passing through town. The reviews lured me in to give this a try. Outside was a little overgrown and some of the seating inside was a bit worn down, so I was initially leery. The decor is quaint, the service was fast and courteous, and the food hit the spot. We got prompt refills without having to ask, and food was prepared and delivered quite quickly. Our crew enjoyed the kids grilled cheese with applesauce, a julienne salad, and a gyro sandwich plate. Great portion sizes and flavor. We did not get dessert, but the display cakes and such looked phenomenal!

Staying a Comfort Inn, which is a few steps away. We spotted the German Chocolate Cake when we walked in. No Brainer!! We shared the shrimp, had salad and soup so we could have CAKE. Brittany provided great service. Because of friendly interaction with wait staff, most diners appeared to be locals, Travelers, I would recommend The Grill for dinner. German Chocolate Cake was just one of several incredible looking desserts in display case.

Nice and simple American fare that was well prepared with friendly staff. The best fried mushrooms I've ever had, perfectly breaded and fried without being greasy.

Another great Google find conveniently located just off I 57/I 64. Friendly service and good food make this place a choice eatery. I got the Gyro sandwich and onion rings, both quite tasty. Hubby got the Turkey Bacon melt and French fries and said they hit the spot. Good prices made for an all around pleasant experience. Definitely recommend!

Unassuming from the outside but don't let that deter you. The food was fresh, hot, and substantial quantity. Fries had the perfect crunch texture. Dessert menu is extensive making it hard to decide on just one. Affordable. Will return.
